How to Ensure Safe Winch Operation
Security Risk
Due to the lack of awareness and effective methods of safe use of the winch, it often causes production accidents:
- The winch is not fixed firmly, and the ground anchor is not set securely, causing the winch to shift and overturn.
- There is no protection device on the drum to prevent the wire rope from slipping off, or the setting of the protection device is not reasonable and reliable, causing the wire rope to detach from the winch.
- The end of the wire rope is not fixed or does not meet the requirements, causing the wire rope to fall off.
- The winch brake has failed and cannot be positioned.
- Inaccurate positioning of the shaft end of the rope drum causes shaft fatigue fracture.
Safety Requirements
Installation location:
- Set up an operating shed and ensure that the operator can clearly see the commander and the hoisted objects.
- The winch foundation should be solid and far away from the dangerous working area. The ground anchor should be locked with the wire rope and the winch base, and the front should be piled to prevent the winch from moving and overturning.
- The drum should be aligned with the center of the guide pulley.
Operator requirements:
- The winch operator should take professional training and hold a certificate to work.
- Before operation, the machine should be idled to ensure that the electrical, braking and environmental conditions are good.
- The operator shall not leave the post when the hoisted objects are not completely on the ground.
- The operator should always pay attention to the operating conditions and the wear of the wire rope.
- During the operation, no one shall cross the wire rope.
- The wire rope should be regularly coated with butter and placed in a dedicated channel to prevent rolling and tipping, and damaging the strength of the wire rope.
