Overhead bridge crane is a simple piece of machinery used for lifting and moving heavy loads from one location to another. It is mainly composed of main beam, end beams, hoisting mechanism, crane travelling mechanism, control system and electrical equipment. Different components can be engineered to improve the crane capacity and performance.

Technical Requirements For The Installation Of Crane Track
- The rail joint can be made straight or 45 degrees. The inclined joint can make the large wheel smooth transition at the joint. The gap of the normal joint is 1~2mm.
- When the temperature in the cold area is below 20 degrees Celsius in winter, the temperature gap should be considered. When the length of a single rail is about 10m, it is desirable to 4~6mm (including normal gap).
- The lateral dislocation and height difference of the two track at the joint should be less than or equal to 1mm.
- On the same section, the surface of the rail is high and low: to a bridge crane. It shall not exceed 10mm at the post, not exceed 15mm at other locations, and 10mm for gantry cranes, and no more than gantry cranes and loading cranes with a span greater than 40m.
- On the same side, the elevation between the elevation and the adjacent column between the two columns is not more than 15mm, but the maximum is not more than 15mm.The errors of the track span, the center of the track and the center of the rail bearing and the straight track are not straight.
Installation Considerations Of Overhead Cranes
- Reliability of crane track
When a crane or a trolley runs the break, it produces longitudinal or lateral forces. If the large and small car brake at the same time, it produces a synthetic braking force, so that the track is subjected to an oblique thrust.
When the track is mounted on one side generally higher than the other side, the crane moves to the lower side, thereby increasing the lateral force of the track.
To this end, effective measures should be taken to secure the track in a reliable way. Especially for outdoor gantry cranes, in order to avoid wind blowing and rollover, in the nonworking state, the rail clamping device is clamped on the track, so the reliability of such track laying is more important.
- Easy to replace
In addition to reliability, the installation of the track must be considered to be easy to replace. In particular, the place of continuous production cannot be ignored. To this end, it is suggested that no permanent connection, such as riveting or welding, is used.
- Type of rail beams
There are two kinds of rail beam used to install track, one is steel structure beam and the other is a concrete precast beam. Prefabricated concrete beams must be retained for the installation of anchor bolts.

During the operation of overhead cranes, due to various loads, certain parts and metal structures of the cranes will inevitably be worn or deformed. When these wear reach a certain level, it will seriously affect or lose the original technical performance of the whole machine, endangering the safety of crane operation. Therefore, the worn out parts and deformed metal structures must be replaced and repaired.
- Hook And Pulley
The hook fixing place must be reliable, and the nut must not be loose.
The worn area of the hook shall not be repaired by surfacing welding.
The uneven wear of the pulley rope groove can be reprocessed on the lathe.
When the rim of cast steel pulley is defective, repair welding can be carried out.
The lubricating nipple of the pulley must be kept clean to ensure that the oil passage is unblocked.
- Wire Rope Drum
When the rope groove is worn, the wall thickness of the cylinder can be appropriately reduced (usually about 10%-15%), and a new rope groove can be processed on the lathe. In order to ensure safety, check calculations should be carried out before machining to determine the amount of turning work.
For the defects on the surface of the cast steel and steel plate assembly welding drum, the welding repair method should be determined according to the location and size.
After the keyway is damaged, it can be repaired by welding first, and then processed and repaired.
If the fixing bolt holes of the gear ring on the end plate of the drum are worn out, the holes can be re-reamed.
If the wear of the rim does not exceed 40% of the original thickness, and the rolling surface defect is not too large, it can be repaired by welding.
The defects of the cast steel running wheel rim can be repaired by welding and repairing, or all the rims can be cut off, and a sleeve of the same size can be fitted on the outer ring by press-fitting. After fixing, process rims that match the design dimensions.
Defects such as pits and sand holes on the rolling surface of the traveling wheel that are not large in area and depth can be repaired by welding.
Cracks in the wheel hub and spokes of the running wheel can be repaired, but cracks on the rim cannot be repaired.
The shaft deflection can be straightened. If the deflection does not exceed 0.8% of the total length, it can be straightened by cold work. If the deflection exceeds 0.8% of the total length, it must be heated and straightened.
Shoulder wear can be repaired by welding or spraying and processing.
Damaged keyways can be repaired by hand or milling.
- Rolling Bearings
Most of the rolling bearings should be replaced during overhaul and medium repair.
Those minor parts that have no defects after careful inspection can continue to be used.
Rolling bearings with rusty steel balls and isolation rings, wear and fatigue erosion on the raceway surface, wear and scratch marks on the steel balls and steel columns, damage to the isolation ring, and cracks in the inner and outer shells must be replaced.
Common defects are wear of brake wheels, wear of brake bands or brake pads, enlargement of pin reaming holes of lever system, wear of pins, deformation of force transmission levers and wear of fasteners.
The repaired and assembled brake must ensure that the levers of the lever system can move relative to each other, balanced and stable, without jamming; the brake band and the brake shoe are closely fitted, and the size meets the requirements; when the brake is released, the gap between the brake wheel and the brake band shall not be less than 0.25mm.
Common defects of elastic pin couplings are rim wear, elastic rubber ring wear, pin shaft bending and scratches, half coupling body cracks, hub pin shaft hole deformation, keyway damage, etc.
- Gear Transmission
Common defects of gear transmission include wear of meshing gear pairs, broken teeth, wear of hub holes and keyways, cracks of ring gear and spokes, and cracks in the reducer body.
